John has a great many resources as PDFs and MP3s designed and delivered in a way that encourages motivation and progress.

John is a fantastic drum teacher. I have had the pleasure of being taught by him these last couple of years and I have valued every single session. During teaching sessions, John allows much flexibility between modules. For example, John was able to teach me various parts of songs for the worship band I played in. This really helped as it allowed me to further my learning and adapt to live environments with other musicians.

Recommended by a friend, I started lessons when I was 17/18. Over the next couple of years this guy taught me many a riff and beat, songs i had grown up to….as well as a few I’d never heard of. He introduced me to tracks which to this day are my favourite, Linkin park and Pink springing to mind instantly. His easy to follow methods are second to none, you’ll be a regular Keith Moon in no time! But he is not only a great drum teacher, he’s also a great friend and person to talk to. One of, if not THE most, inspirational teachers I’ve had the pleasure of being taught by.

I was a student of Johns back when I went to both George Ward and the Melksham Oak Community School. I had lessons for the whole time I was there and I have to say I wouldn’t be where I am today without the hard work and quite a bit of patience from Mr Joy!! I am now a professional musician serving in The Royal Marines band service. All my basic musicianship and the technical skills I needed to be the professional player I am today I was taught by John! When I took the first lesson with him I had never played an instrument and never even thought about it. When the lesson was over I walked out of the drum room booming with excitement and a new found love that I still have today! So if anyone is even considering taking lessons, this is the guy to go to! I mean, just look where it got me. 10/10 would recommend.
